Throughout high school, Nate Wieneke has been a great athlete in basketball and baseball. When it came time to decide about a future, Wieneke wanted to continue his career with baseball and found himself on the roster at Dakota State University for his Freshman year.

Wieneke has been involved with baseball even from the days of summer rec baseball in Slayton. As the years went on throughout high school, Wieneke has always been one of the dominant members of the baseball team, and even proved that to be true his Senior year. In fact, Wieneke led the Rebels in a number of categories. He finished his high school career with a .365 batting average, had 19 hits in 52 attempts. Scored 21 runs, had 12 RBIís along with 11 doubles and a home run. He also stole 17 bases during his final year.
