Tammy (Van Dam) Fimrite, a 1993 Murray County Central graduate, experienced the Boston blast first hand on Monday afternoon.

Fimrite ran the BAA Boston 5k the previous day. Her husband, Jereme, however, competed in the marathon.

“We had just gotten back to our hotel room which is a couple blocks away from the explosion but heard it. We didn't know what it was,” said Tammy. “Thankfully Jereme is a fast runner. He finished at 3:19 about 50 minutes prior to the explosion.” She concluded with. “Our prayers are with those who were affected by the explosions. Prayers of thanks that we are safe.”
