Depression in children is a topic that is often misunderstood. Childhood is usually viewed as a fun and carefree time of life and many people think that children cannot really suffer from depression. Many times, people describe depressed children as just “moody”. Childhood depression is different than the normal “blues” and emotions that most children experience. It is an illness that can interfere with normal social activities, academic performance, and family life.
