In an effort to educate the public, Dr. Brad Freking of New Fashion Pork in Jackson shared information about the Humane Society of the United States. “People have such a misconception about what they do,” Freking pointed out.
In this holiday season of giving, Freking reminds individuals to look carefully at organizations that they are donating to, and Larry Liepold of Okabena agrees. A member of the National Pork Producers Council, Liepold suggested “making more contributions to your local animal shelters,” as their funds would be used more appropriately for the area.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has aired several commercials on television, showing the pets that have been abused or neglected and in need of shelter. The requests are for donations to help support the dogs and cats shown.
