Rebels earn key conference victory

January 16, 2013

over Wolverines
By: Joel Herrig Murray County News Sports

The MCC Rebel Girls basketball team looked to get a win in varsity basketball during the week. Up until Friday, the two Rebel varsity team had combined to lose three games without getting a win. The Rebels hoped to break that streak with a win over Mountain Lake Area. The Wolverines had five wins already this season, but were playing without their star center Jenessa Peters. Peters is one of the top scorers and the top rebounder in the Red Rock Conference. The Rebels took advantage of the Wolverinesí missing star as they cruised to their first win of 2013.

The game was not the cleanest played game, even with the amount of points scored by MCC. The two teams combined for over 55 turnovers. What was on the Rebelsí side was that they had the chance to get out on the fast break to score in transition.
