| Around here it seems there are plenty of opportunities to experience the thrill of traveling by horse-drawn sleigh- | |

There's a popular song that's heard frequently this time of year and it's one of my very favorites: "Sleigh Ride". Whenever I heard it my mind can't help but wander aimlessly about, thinking what fun it must have been to go "gliding in a wonderland of snow"! Oddly enough, that song was composed in the heat of a July day in 1946 by composer Leroy Anderson. Originally intended as an orchestral piece, lyrics were added by Mitchell Parish in 1950. I recently had the honor to perform this lively piece with the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra at its winter concert in Marshall.
