Folks in the area may already have noticed a big blue bus at the Murray County Medical Center recently, and will be seeing more of the wellness bus as it makes its way across the county providing free wellness service to its residents. The bus, officially dubbed the Murray County Memorial Center Education and Screening Bus, made its maiden voyage last week in a debut, stopping at various communities in Murray County on its three day run. The hospital, Snow says, is constantly searching for ways to serve the community and this fit into its vision perfectly. "There is a lot of stuff we're looking into doing," he says, adding that there is a constant flow of requests from area communities. This fall the hospital distributed a survey seeking areas of interest and need and came up with providing the service. What that survey revealed was a desire for more wellness services. Thus was born, the brain child of hospital administrator Mel Snow and a supportive steering committee. A mobile wellness center.
