New judge Wietzema introduced to county commissioners
By: Sheila Crowley Murray County News Staffwriter

Christina Wietzema, the new judge for Cottonwood and Murray County, was introduced prior to the commissioner meeting on Tuesday. She has been a lawyer for the past 19 years. Wietzema moved to southwest Minnesota after completing law school. She and her husband currently reside in Worthington along with their two sons, Zach-12, and Tyler-10. She has worked in the public defenders office for last 15 years. Wietzema has done all criminal defense work for past five to seven years, so she has traveled around to all counties in Southwest Minnesota. Wietzema was appointed by the Governor about a month ago. She was sworn-in this past Wednesday in Cottonwood County, where her chambers will be located. Wietzema plans to keep everything much the same as it has been in the past. She also went on to comment about the new upcoming e-court which will enable judges to have access to court documents via computer screens. This is hoped to be in place some time in the next year or two according to Wietzema.
