Leland Priebe, the son of Ernest and Annie (Michaelson) Priebe, was born on May 25, 1918 in Slayton, Minnesota. He grew up Lowville Township, Murray County, Minnesota and attended school in Slayton and later at the University of Minnesota. Leland was united in marriage to Lucille Bohl on November 14, 1937 in Lowville, Township. After their marriage they lived in Lowville Township until 1945 when they moved to a farm in Slayton Township.  In 1968 they moved to a farm in Leeds Township. Lucile passed away on February 17, 1997. Leland remained on the farm until 2003 when he moved to Sunrise Terrace Apartments in Slayton. In 2010 Leland moved to Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton and in 2011. Leland entered the Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the age of 94. He was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church Iona, Minnesota where served as head usher and Elder for over 30 years. Leland also was a Township Supervisor from 1978 to 1998, was a SRDC representative from 1984 to 1996. He also served on the Murray County Fairboard from 1950 until 2007 and managed the 4-H Food stand. He was a volunteer driver for MCMH and WHC and took tickets at the Murray County Racetrack. Leland enjoyed playing cards and working at the Slayton Sale Barn.

Survivors include his four children: Ernest (JoAnn) Priebe, Hadley, MN, Gaeland Priebe and special friend, Melodie Knutson, Slayton, MN, Allen (Tami) Priebe, Long Prairie, MN and Marie Donhiser, Lakefield, MN; son-in-law Ferrill Jones, Westbrook, MN; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Gloria Jones; four sisters: Amelia Gleason, Florence Jones, Eunice Johnson and Ruth Swanson and one brother Marlene Priebe

Funeral services were held at Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona, MN at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 with Pastor Deb Klaassen officiating with special music by Cheri Paulsen and Sue Muck. The pallbearers were Paul Jones, Charlie Priebe, Randy Tims, Harley Wahl, Ronnie Robins and Dave Bosacker. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN. The family requests memorials be sent to Murray County Hospice. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com.
