Rebels down Knights
The MCC Rebels were the fifth seed in the Section 3A playoffs which began last week. The Rebels on Tuesday night were in Lake Crystal to play the Knights of Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial. The Knights were the fourth seed in the section but had lost their final four games of the year entering the playoffs. The Rebels and Knights played one of the strangest games I have ever seen and to say each half was very different from the other is to say the least. In the end the Rebels had just enough to pull off the upset to advance to the section semifinals.

This game had it all and it was mashed into the first half of this game and most of it revolved around offense and special teams. The game started with a bang and it was a sign of what was to come over the course of the first two quarters.

The Rebels would field the opening kick at the 46 yard line looking to get off to a quick start and they got it. On the very first play from scrimmage Jack Thony ran from left to right and would get to the edge untouched and then the speedster pulled away from the defense on his way to a 54 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion was scored by Thony to give the Rebels the 8-0 lead with just 15 seconds off the clock.
