After the Rebels took a quick win against Fulda at home to open the playoffs, MCC traveled to Luverne for the second round of tournament play. There, the Rebels matched up with a team that has given them a tight battle a couple times all the way through the match. That team was the Southwest United Wildcats.

The first set appeared to be in the hands of MCC, but the Wildcats came back and made the Rebels earn their win. MCC picked up the first point of the match off a serving error by the Wildcats. SWU got the point back off a block at the net, and kept the score tied for a short while. MCC started to break open the set after each team scored four points, and from there, MCC started to gain more and more points and eventually was up 9-6. After an error on a block by a Rebel player, MCC went on a small run that was started by a tip that fell by Kristi Bose. Paris Thomas also picked up an ace serve and the Rebels quickly went up 13-7. MCC kept the offense going and appeared that they were going to take the set with some comfort.
