The Murray County Central fifth grade class donned their caps, mittens and winter coats on Friday morning as part of the lesson plan for the day.
As each of them boarded the Prairie Ecology Bus from Lakefield, Minnesota, instructions were given along with expectations. The hands-on learning assignment involved traveling to Currie’s Des Moines river basin. There, the students each grabbed a pair of rubber boots as they prepared to wander the river bed.
On tap, was learning about stream and lake ecology. Students discovered the life in and around the local river through mapping, searching for animals and their signs.
