September 12

The Slayton Police Department (SPD) received a report at 10:08 on the morning of September 12, 2012 of someone tampering with the mail in the 3200 block of Maple Avenue. SPD spoke with the caller and examined an item of mail that had been torn up and returned to the mail box. The following morning SPD spoke with a group of juveniles regarding the tampering who denied being involved. No incidents of mail tampering have occurred in the week following the conversation with the juveniles.

SPD responded to a 911 hangup call in the 3000 block of Maple Avenue at 11:46 that morning. SPD spoke with an adult female at the home where the call was indicated to have originated. She stated no one had used the telephone for some time. There was no emergency at the location. The call may have been a telephone issue. Things were determined to be all right.
