For many people around Slayton, competing in a national event is a dream and often a rare occurance. On September 8th, Ryan Tjeerdsma made that dream become a reality when he stepped foot onto the Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois and competed in the U.S. Mid-Amateur Tournament.
Born on June 7th, 1972 in Tyndall, South Dakota, Tjeerdsma has been exposed to golf ever since he was a young kid. At the age of 12, he first began to play the game of golf by riding his bike four miles from his home just to golf, and sometimes went with his dad, which he said was his biggest childhood inspiration.
