Recipes this week:Overnight Coleslaw; Apple Bars; and French Caramel Pecan Bars
Happy 80th birthday to Robert. Well actually it isn’t until the 10th but next week’s paper would be too late. We will celebrate with him a couple of times, once this weekend and later in August when all of our children are home for Lydia and Brandon’s wedding. I have been reading Billy Graham’s book “Nearing Home” sub title “Life, Faith and Finishing Well”. Graham is 93 and talks about growing old and not in a negative way. It begins by remembering and the gift it is of old age. Over and over we recall happenings and events that have taken place and most of the time it is a positive recollection. One section deals with taking care of our assets and preparing a will and leaving instructions for our end of life. Sounds kind of morbid but how much easier it is for the family at such a time. I certainly recommend reading the book especially those living in the golden years as he so aptly calls them.
