Winter and Kappes retire from Slayton Fire Department
The Slayton city council last Wednesday night accepted the resignation of long time fire department members Russ Winter and Tom Kappes.  The two veteran fire firefighters have served the department for 33 and 32 years respectively, and both expressed their fondness for being able to serve the city. “Both will be sorely missed,” fellow fire fighter Chris Jacobsen commented.

Local Boy Scout Alex Peterson was recognized for his achievement of Eagle Scout rank, which he has recently completed. Mayor Chuck Ludolph proclaimed Sunday, February 7, as a day to celebrate and congratulate Peterson for his accomplishment.

A lease agreement between the city and Murray County to provide office space for Transportation and Coordinator on Aging services was approved.  In a prior  agreement, the city agreed to pay 15 percent of the coordinator’s position. This new agreement will stipulate that the county pays the city $300.00 per month for office space.
