On the evening of Friday, January 22, an ice storm embarked on Nobles Cooperative Electric's service territory. Scattered power outages began around 5:30 p.m. Friday evening. By 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, approximately 500 members were without power in Murray and Nobles counties. At the peak of the ice storm on Saturday afternoon an estimated 700 to 800 members were without power. All Nobles' crews and two trucks with crews from both Benco Electric Cooperative (Mankato) and Brown County Rural Electrical Association (Sleepy Eye) had everyone restored by 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, except a few scattered outages due to poles being down.
Nobles Cooperative Electric estimates 30 to 40 poles were lost with numerous lines down due to the ice. The cooperative cautions people to stay away from any downed power lines. Please report the location and keep everyone from the area.
Nobles Cooperative Electric would like to express their appreciation to everyone for their patience and understanding as crews worked diligently to get the power restored as fast and as safely possible. We would especially like to thank those members that plowed areas so crews could get to the downed lines. |
