Help the Holiday blood supply, December 2

November 25, 2009

“The blood supply has been challenged.
Community Blood Bank, Murray County Medical Center Auxiliary and Murray County Central High School will host a blood drive on Wednesday, December 2. The blood drive will be held at Murray County Central High School from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Murray County Medical Center will host the blood drive from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This blood drive will benefit the local blood supply.

“The blood supply has been challenged. With many people coming down with a cold or flu early in the season, we have experienced decrease in donation,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “We are encouraging residents to come out to this blood drive and donate to help bring the blood supply back to normal levels just before the holidays.”

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org) and weigh at least 100 pounds. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.
