1946-Rosemary Ann Kalas -2009
Rosemary Kalas, the daughter of Clifford and Birdie (Amble) Dahl, was born on September 15, 1946 in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up in Grand Forks and attended school there graduating from Central High School in 1964. Rosemary was united in marriage to George Kalas on June 24, 1966 in Grand Forks. After their marriage they lived in Puerto Rico where their son was born. In 1970 they moved to Michigan until George was stationed to Thailand 1972 and Rosie moved to Slayton. After George returned they lived in Nebraska, where their daughter was born. In 1976 they moved to Germany until 1979 when they moved to Montana. Following his retirement in 1980 they returned to Slayton where they remained the rest of their married life. Rosemary passed away at her home on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the age of 63. She was a member of Slayton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and making Afghans. Rosie couldn’t wait for the major holiday so she could make a big meal and spend time with the whole family. Most of all she loved to spend time with all her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, George of Slayton, MN; two children, Scott (Jennifer) Kalas of Slayton, MN and Stacey (Brian) Bakke of Slayton, MN; five grandchildren, Samantha Jean, Aaron and Jayson Bakke, Stephanie Kalas and Brenden Boomgaarden and three sisters, Jeanette (Lawrence) Brokke, Donna (John) Friend and Linda Brokken all of Grand Forks, ND.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother- in-law, Ron Brokken and nephew, Lawerance Brokken.
Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 19, 2009 with the Rev. Jon Marburger officiating. The organist is Janet Voges. The pallbearers are Bob Miller, Bob Willhite Jr., Steve Smith Jr., Dale Kalas, Billy Willhite, Larry Kalas Jr., Brice Grogan and Lonnie Kalas. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Sign guestbook online at www.totzkefuneralhome.com. |
