Memorial services were held at St. Ann's Church, Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating.

Marie Wagner, the daughter of Christ and Lizzie Pederson Johansen, was born on September 1, 1915 in Slayton, Minnesota. She grew up in the farmhouse on the hill across from the Catholic cemetery of Slayton. The farm still remains in the Johansen family today. As a youth she enjoyed playing basketball and loved roller-skating. Marie was united in marriage to Ben Wagner on June 28, 1939 in Slayton. After their marriage they lived in the Slayton area and raised their five children who were the pride of her life. Marie remained in Slayton after Ben passed away on March 20, 1974. She later moved to the Twin Cities to be near her family. Marie passed away at the Ambassador Good Samaritan Center in New Hope, Minnesota on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the age of 94. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Slayton. Marie was an avid bowler and always knew where the fish were biting. She would often be seen heading out to Lake Shetek, returning with a string of walleyes.

Survivors include her children: Bruce (Linda) Wagner, Belgrade, MN, Gayle (Jim) O'Brian, New Hope, MN, Tom (Judy) Wagner, Sioux City, IA, Chuck (Sandy) Wagner, Greenville, WI; daughter in-law Margaret Wagner, Omaha, NE and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ben; son John and nine siblings.

Memorial services were held at St. Ann's Church, Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist was Judy Andrews. The song leader was Pat Buse. Interment at St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton, MN. The Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton assisted the family with arrangements.
