By: Sheila Crowley Murray County News Staffwriter Kayla Johnson has come back to Slayton to pursue her career.

Johnson, a 2002 graduate of Murray County Central, decided the local area was where she wanted to be. “My husband, Chris, and I really wanted to be able to raise our family in a small town,” stated Kayla. Lynn Johnson has given Kayla that opportunity as she will now be working with Lynn as an attorney in her law firm.

Johnson will officially be sworn in as a lawyer this Friday, October 31st in St. Paul. Johnson took her bar exam in July of this year and received official word that she had passed the test on October 7th.

Kayla began working for Lynn Johnson four years ago. “I came back for the summer months and did odds and ends jobs,” said Kayla. In the meantime, Kayla’s brother, Travis Smith, who had been working with Lynn, was offered the assistant county attorney position in Nobles County. It was then that Lynn approached Kayla about the possibility of becoming part of her law firm upon graduation. “We work really well together,” commented Kayla.
