Knuth is a 1994 graduate of Murray County Central High School . . . . .
Nick Knuth graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a PhD from the Division of Kinesiology on April 18, 2007. Knuth was awarded the Paul A. Hunsicker Memorial Award during the Division of Kinesiology commencement,which recognizes a student who has demonstrated superior scholarship, professional zeal and promise. He was also awarded a very competitive post-doctoral research fellowship at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland in the Diabetic and Digestive and Kidney Disease division (NIDDK).

Knuth is a 1994 graduate of Murray County Central High School, and a 1998 graduate of the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He received a Masterís Degree in chemistry at the University of Michigan in 2000.

His strong background in chemistry was invaluable to the type of research projects he pursued for his doctoral dissertation, dealing with the metabolic fate of ingested substrate. He single-handedly established very complicated laboratory techniques necessary to perform the complex metabolic studies for his dissertation.

Knuthís doctoral advisor at the University of Michigan, Dr. Jeffrey F. Horowith, stated that among the most rewarding experiences of his career has been assisting Knuth evolve from a chemist into an excellent integrative physiologist.

Nick is the son of Ken and Marlys Knuth, rural Slayton.
