Fraternal twins, Noah and Matthew Bertrand, were born to Tim and Elizabeth Bertrand, Wilmont, on January 29th, 2017. The twins, along with their parents, have had quite a journey over the past three and one-half months. Looking to Mother’s Day, there is more of an outlook that soon the family will all be reunited in their Wilmont home.
“We found out at our eight weeks ultrasound that there were two babies,” Elizabeth Bertrand shared. “Tim had decided he was not going to the eight weeks ultrasound, but would go to the twenty weeks one, so I was by myself when we found out. Tim was working construction at the time, and I stopped at the construction site to tell him. He was happy, but right away said, ‘We need to buy a different vehicle.’”
“I was excited. A couple of days later, as the shock wore off and the information sunk in, I realized we were going to need two of everything,” Elizabeth stated. “I called one of my friends and told her about the twins. She said she was done having children and I could have her equipment. That was so very wonderful.”
Tim and Elizabeth had been having children about every two years. Caelan, is 7 years of age, Abigail, age 5, and Isaac, age 4. “We joke that God was making up for time by blessing us with twins. We could imagine Him saying, ‘Here’s for waiting – two just to make up time!’” Elizabeth said with a laugh.
Complications arose in the pregnancy for Elizabeth and she was hospitalized for complete bed rest on December 28th, 2016. She was informed that her water had broken, and that she needed to remain at the hospital until the babies were born.
